Melbourne Carrera Digital Slot Car Club.

Every Wednesday Nights 7PM (START) until 10pm - race meetings for JANUARY (1/24 - 4th & 18th 1/32 - 11th & 25th).

Slot car racing has been taken in to 21st Century with the invention of Digital racing. 4-6 cars race on a standard 2 two lane track, passing for position with the new 'lane changing' track , pitting for 'fuel' in the pit lane and just trying to stay on the pace and finish first.

RULES - Standard 'out of the box' Carrera Digital 132 & 124 slot cars. No upgrades for tyres. motors, brushes etc. . . Your car goes straight from the box to the track.

- Box Standard Cars in ALL 14 classes. Race - Heats over (20/24 laps) 2/3min with (30/50 laps) 3/5min points counting main race(s).

DIGITAL 124 season 2009 review.

The class everyone loves. Large 1/24 highly detailed cars, fast, heavy and exciting to drive. Each race was made up of four racers & one drone over 3 minutes.

124 Hot Rods . The big bangers on the track. Anthony already had the title with his 11pt lead and only 10 pts on offer for a win. This left the battle for second with who ever finished higher would take second. A great race unfolded with best lap times 1/1000sec apart. All 4 cars on the lead lap before the pit stops. Then Glenn was knocked off by the drone car then Matt half a lap later, but before he pitted. The drone car now named 'Piquet Jnr'. Final standings Anthony 49pts - Glenn 35pts - Matt 31pts. Champion Anthony. Most wins Anthony & Glenn (3 each).

124 Le Mans (Classic) .   3 points between the top two (Anthony & Glenn). Anthony took the first race then his performance dropping off for the next two including another DNF left Glenn to win the third race and close into a single point for the feature and last race. Anthony got the jump in the final race and with smart pitting opened up a gap and finished a massive 3 laps up. Glenn was just in the wrong place and the wrong time got stuck behind the drone car but finished second. Final standings Anthony 39pts - Glenn 33pts - Matt 20pts. Champion Anthony. Most wins Anthony & Glenn (3 each). Both 1/24 titles to Motorsport AG well done.

 

DIGITAL 132 season 2009 review.

Carrera Digital 1/32 scale highly detailed cars, fast and exciting to drive as each car had it's own characteristics. Each race was made up of six racers & one drone over 3 minutes. Endurance over 5 minutes

132 LMPT (Le Mans) . With only 9 points between the top two and 10 points extra for the win it was going to be a classic battle between Glenn & Matt. Anthony shot off into the distance leaving them to fight for the championship. Glenn had a horror start but managed to catch up to Matt due to Matt getting stuck behind the drone car. Then it was Glenns' turn ahead before he too got stuck behind the drone leaving Matt to finish second and take the championship. Final standings (Top 3) Matt 97pts - Anthony 86 Pts - Glenn 83pts. Season check - Champion Matt. Most wins Glenn (3).

132 GT Cup . 2 points between Anthony & Matt. With both rounds held tonight Matt needing only one win you would think it would be that easy. But Glenn wins race 1 as Matt crashed out but still took 2pts. Final round. Advantage Anthony, but he took the 'McLaren' approach to the Championship but driving off the track with no pressure on handing the Championship to Matt. Final standings Matt 37pts - Anthony 32pts - Glenn 30pts. Champion Matt. Most wins Matt (3). Both 1/32 titles to the flying Dutchman well done.

What a great first season with classic battles, major crashes, race strategy and the far to common brain fade. The following Drivers made to the top of the rostrum; Shane (3), Russell (3), Tom (2), Brian (2), Stephen (1), Gary (1) , Rob (1) and lastly and perhaps the saddest winner Drone Car (1).

DIGITAL 124 season 2010 review.

The class everyone loves. Large 1/24 highly detailed cars, fast, heavy and exciting to drive. Each race was made up of four racers & one drone over 3 minutes.

124 Hot Rods . Well how the mighty have fallen. 2009 Defending Champion Glenn only won one race all year in this class and ending 2010 in last place. Matt (aka Hawkman) took 2 championships (First & Last). Anthony made up the sandwich with 1 title, both of these drivers won zero races in the season they were not champion. 2010 winners list - MATT 11, TOM 7, ANTHONY 6, ALEX 1, RUSSELL 1 & GLENN 1.

124 LeMans (Classic) . Tom started champion and ended up champion. Team Porsche was the way to go for 2011. Matt & Tom had these Carrera 6's hard & fast for all of 2010. However, Anthony took the first two titles in his Ferrari 330, sweet. So new rules 1. ) Double Champions must retire their car. 2. ) Half points if you fail to reach half distance. 2010 winners list - ANTHONY 11, MATT 7, TOM 6, RUSSELL 3, GLENN 2, ALEX 1.

124 GT (Classic) . It's Ferrari 250GTO vs Chevrolet Grand Sport. Win a race cuts your fuel, so over a season strategy plays a big part to the run for the championship. It's a classic battle Anthony Vs Matt the best races we have.

124 GT1 . Glenn in his Corvette C6R totally destroyed all competition all year winning all championships amassing a massive 21 victories for 2010. Nicknamed 'Captain Slow' but he seriously was 'Stig' material in this class.

124 LeMans (Modern) . The "Tommy low tires" championship. Winning 5 out of 6 championships. 29 victories from 46 starts. Scrutinizing his car is a must for 2011.

DIGITAL 132 season 2010 review.

 

Digital 132 - Le Mans (LMPT). Only raced once in 2010. Anthony lead the Championship however forced to make a switch from Peugeot to Audi after winning the first two rounds has seen his lead crushed. Poor Anthony. After all the that Hay fever and now diabetes. To cheer him up we sent him some flowers and a box of chocolates. Matt the master of this category makes it three championships in a row, but only just. Three points between himself and Glenn. Glenn the only one driving a Audi has great speed and with two wins was oh so close to the championship. Final positions for the Top 3 are; 180pts Matt (1 win) - 177pts Glenn (2 wins) - 160pts Anthony (2 wins).

PART I - The 2010 ANZAC 100 . New Track taking 11 seconds to cover a lap. 100 Laps and few beers and a few snags. A great day was had by all in our first club day enduro. 100 Laps at Mount Mattarama. All Porsche GT3's were there. Matt & Tom on the front row and the next big two Anthony & Glenn on row two. Tom Leading Matt after 25 laps then he gets caught behind the drone car then Anthony takes the leads as Matt gets caught behind the drone. All hell breaks lose after 30 laps as Tom & Matt end up in the fence, losing a lap, then a few laps later they're both off again. Anthony up by 2 laps after 50 laps & 75 laps, then Tom who was catching crashed twice & Matt once as their tyres went off. Anthony finally came off but with four laps up the race was his. Race results after 100 Laps; 100-Anthony, 97-Matt, 96-Tom. Non-classified finisher Glenn's Porsche had an off and broke the rear half of the car early on in the race and ending up in fourth place some 27 laps down.

Digital 132 SUPER GT -  New Championship with 14 cars in a teams championship. Races are over 20 laps and if you stack you have to drive through the pits, costing you a lap. Fuel levels set on level 5. Great mix of cars from Mercedes-McLaren SLR's to Ford Capris'. Anthony driving a less fancied 2009 BMW Z4 took 3 titles with Matt & Tom taking one each. Anthony amassed an impressive 24 wins, TOM 17, MATT 15, ALEX 4, GLENN 2.

PART II - The Le Mans 24. New Track for our Enduro. This time held on the deserted Czech airfield. Long straights and tight turns made this layout the perfect circuit for us club 24. No surprise to see the local favorite on Pole. But by over 1 second that was a surprise. How the Novotny 'Skunk Workz' Peugeot managed to that was a mystery as the local scrutineers didn't seem to acknowledge any protests from the 'Team Orange' or 'Motorsport AG' camps. So a Czech was on Pole or was that a Pole should be checked. Tom in P1 by a massive margin then the entire rest of the field separated by bust 0. 2 seconds. So the 132 Le Mans lined up on the grid, Peugeot Vs Audi over 24 minutes in a non stop race. Each time toy crashed you had to re-start the lap just in front of the lap counter, thus costing you a lap. The race quickly turned when a couple of rear-enders when unpunished and an extra pitstop for tyres (A new rule just made) plus a missed lap penalty certainly made the day interesting. The call of "How long to go?" somehow got lost in translation as "44 laps" was the answer. It was all too much, as with all the protests this event may be taken of the 2011 calendar. The racing should of been a lot closer but the 'Alcohol fumes' from the cars/track/air took its toll. Final results are still pending. Perlimary podium results were 1st Tom, 2nd Matt, 3rd Glenn.

Digital 132 Porsche GT3 - Both championships won by Anthony in the #71 Porsche. Matt provided the best of the rest and was unlucky not to win the last championship as Anthony needed 6 victories in the last seven races to win. Which he did winning the last race with style. All cars are the same even after scrutineering it was Anthony's superior race craft passing the drones that enabled him to ream supreme.

Digital 132 - DTM. Three seasons in 2010. Anthony the 'Uber' master only won one as the racing was so close. If you dropped points (Crashed) you had to win the next three races just to make the loss. 2010 wins - ANTHONY12, MATT 10, GLENN 3, TOM 2, RUSSELL 2, ALEX 1.

Digital 132 CanAM -  New 'mad/sic' Championship. These FF motors are insane. Every night all year featured these cars. A massive 6 championship held in 2010. Everyone wanted to win this class. The first winner was AKA Captain Slow, and he did it easy, amazingly. Then it got serious Matt took two titles, then Anthony then in the season final (Last race of the year) we had 4 racers in contention for the title. Anthony who lead with two laps to go (Way in front) then crashed. Matt & Alex raced the last three laps side by side until they lost it on the final corner of the final lap, gifting the championship to the 'Captain'.

Digital 132 Formula 1 - Pushing the boundaries of Slot Car racing with our new F1 category. The championship is held over 15 rounds under the old scoring point system; 10-6-4-3-2-1. Winner of the championship receives the F1 trophy signed by racing legend 'Sir Stirling Moss'. So on to the season - handling on the Ferrari was perfect and we ended up having Anthony & Glenn (Ferrari #2 driver) 2 seconds a lap up on the 'extremely poor' handling Red Bulls. McLaren entered the championship signed Anthony up from Ferrari as other drivers switched to Ferrari (5 drivers now in the famous Red cars). Well that didn't stop Anthony Winning the next next three races and the first championship. Season 2 - Every was told stay on the track as you only got 50% of your points if you failed to reach half race distance. Anthony stayed on, winning 11 from 15 races, well done (73. 33%). Setting the lap record on the final lap of the final race a deserved winner of our 'Sir Stirling Moss' trophy. All the others drivers only finished 17 times out of a possible 75 finishes/places or (22. 67%), that's crap. Crashing in practice, qualifying & race meant your car was removed from that session (Crash & Burn).

Overall we had a great 2010 season for all our Racers & Glenn. Great nights featuring Pizza, Drink, Girls, Stirling Moss - where will it go for 2011 well the club will be at TOP GEAR LIVE.

The 2011 ANZAC 100 . The second year of tour Enduro and on a new track. This year the ANZAC 100 featured 6 races, each of 65 laps. Everyone raced a different car for each race, this was to stop any "GUN" cars for this event. This year the race would be run in 1/24 scale (CARRERA Digital 124). Six 1960's racers were selected. 3x Ford GT40 Mk II's (#2, 3 &5), 1x Ferrari 330 #11, 1x Ferrari 250 GTO #55 & 1x Corvette GrandSport #4. So getting on with it - RACE 1 (65 Laps) Front row after 1min qualifying; Anthony 8. 081s (GT40 #5) on Pole then Alex 8. 118 (GT40 #2); second row Matt 8. 345 (Ferrari GTO #55) Glenn (Corvette GS) 8. 698; row 3 Russell (Ferrari 330) 8. 733 & Tom (GT40 #3) No Time. After 6 laps it was the Anthony/Matt show with all the other drivers battle for the final podium position. Some mix up in the pits made it an exciting race. If you ran out of fuel your laps stopped getting counted. Anthony had the better car and held his lead all race. Finishing 2. 465sec ahead of Matt. With Alex, Russell & Glenn all on 62 laps. Tom was way back on 55 laps due to the fact he hasn't raced for 3 months. Anthony finished with the best lap 8. 211. So onto RACE 2 (65 LAPS) - Front row Matt 7. 992 (GT40 #3) then Anthony 8. 116 (Ferrari GTO). Again who had pole commanded the track with Matt who held the lead from Start to finish setting the fastest lap time of 7. 906s. Second was Anthony (64 laps) then Russell on 63 laps. Alex 59 laps, Glenn 56 & Tom again on 55 laps. Points after 2 rounds: Anthony & Matt 160pts, Alex & Russell 70pts, Glenn 40pts & Tom 10pts. Race 3 - Three racers qualified under 8 seconds; Matt 7. 78 (Ferrari 330), Anthony 7. 841 (GT40 #3) & Tom 7. 947 (GT40 #2). The racing was close up to the second fuel stop then Matt took off but was held up during the last half of the race but again won with a lap to spare over Anthony & Alex (GT40 #5) as all three of these drivers had a change to win this race. Tom finished forth on 60 laps then Russell (Corvette GS) 57 laps. RACE 4 - Anthony now behind Matt needed to win this race. Matt (GT40 #2) on pole with a super hot time of  7. 523s. Again on the outside of the front row Anthony (Ferrari 330) 7. 593. Row 2 Glenn 8. 136 (GT40 #3), Tom 8. 458 (Corvette GS). Row 3 Alex 8. 845 (Ferrari GTO) Russell 9. 453 (GT40 #5). Anthony felt at home driving the Ferrari P4 (An old hand in the 330 camp). Matt got caught in traffic and missed the pits twice and Anthony didn't let up and finished a massive 7 laps up. Next was Russell 57 laps, Alex 54 laps, Glenn 53 laps, Tom 51 laps. Standings after 4 Rounds - Anthony & Matt 360Pts, Alex 140pts, Russell 130pts, Glenn 70pts & Tom 60pts. With only two round to go the title would between ANTHONY & MATT. Race 5 - Matt was driving the so called "Crap" car but looking at the qualifying times you wouldn't know about it. Anthony set a Pole time of 7. 619s (GT40 #2) outside row 1 Tom (GT40 #5) 7. 817s. Matt (Corvette GS) 8. 047 was third and outside him was Glenn 8. 350 (GT40 #5). Three, Two, One, and it's Go Go Go. Anthony was off again and he hammered out some fast laps to be 2 laps up by halfway. Matt was given it his all but Anthony had too much and ending up winning by 5 laps. Matt followed Anthony home then it was Glenn (53laps), Russell (52laps), Alex (51laps) & Tom (47laps). So on to the final race. RACE 6 - Matt qualified Pole with a very quick time of 7. 552 (GT40 #5) and again on the front row for the sixth straight race was Anthony with 8. 058 (Corvette GS). Row two Alex 8. 411 (Ferrari 330) & Tom 8. 576 (Ferrari GTO). Row three Russell 8. 665 (GT40 #3) & Glenn 9. 176 (GT40 #2). Now for Matt to win the title he needed to beat Anthony by a Massive 10 laps, that's if Anthony followed him home in second place. Matt could only wish for someone to finish in front of Anthony. For Matt to be Champion he need to beat Anthony by some 10 laps. That's 1. 250 seconds a lap quicker each lap for 10 minutes. So race start and Matt tore off into the distance as it appeared Anthony let him go (smart move). Alex was all over the back of Anthony and should have provided stern competition but his ambition clearly outweighed his talent as Alex fell further and further back no fun for all the Ferrari Tifosi fans. Glenn come up to challenge for second but by then Anthony cracked a few fast laps and with that it was all over. The top two drivers finished equal on points but Anthony finished 7 laps up on Matt over the 6 races. FINAL standings for the 2011 ANZAC ENDURO; Champion - ANTHONY (480pts), 2nd MATT - 7 laps (480pts), 3rd RUSSELL - 40 laps (180pts), 4th ALEX - 42 laps (170pts), 5th GLENN - 44 laps (150pts), 6th TOM - 62 laps (100pts).

#1 - 2011 (25T) ANTHONY "Lauda" Team Motorsport AG - 'The Champion' (44 Titles) , faster than the shooting pains up a Scotsman's' left arm with a massive 360 race wins (132 - 244 WINS) and (124 - 116 WINS) in completed championships. Has the eye for digital racing with 'splash & go', a great 'fav' move of his and other club leading drivers. The only man who has his cars 'nailed' to the track, 'cos he never comes off just gets into the zone and hammers out those fast laps again, again and again. Always on the podium and has the championships to show for it. "Who put Britney in the fence", #1 driver. Favorite car - McLaren F1. Four times Formula 1 & Twice ANZAC Enduro Champion. Ranking - A.

 

  #2 - 2011 (10T) RUSSELL "Alonso" Team Professor-Pro - Mr. Motorsport or the Motor Hunter . (10 Titles) and now has 115 Race Wins  (132 - 41 WINS) & (124 - 74 WINS) . He is able to peel off a good lap but breaking too late in the corners ends in tears far to often. Needs to land up on the podium rather than on the fence. We are starting to see some fast cars from the Pro Team. Favorite Car Porsche GT3 Ranking - B.

#3 - 2011 (8T) GLENN "Webber" Team Dirty Sanchez Racing - The Analogue boy of the 60's turns to digital and now has awoken the sleeping beast (21 titles). A serious amount of first places with 181 race wins (132 - 94 WINS) & (124 - 87 WINS) in completed championships. Finding it tuff making the switch from analogue to digital with some big 'rear end' moments. Favorite car Chevrolet Corvette C6R "The beast'. Cracks a joke faster than he cracks a lap. Likes: favorite colour pink, long walks on the track, soft candle lights. "Slow", I hear you say. Ranking - C.

 

#4 - 2011 (8T) TOM "Vettel" Team Czech-Skunk-Wurkz (TCSW) - The 'rolling ball' of the track (15 Titles) . The Sebastian of the club with a burning desire to score not only race wins but all Fastest Laps & Pole positions. Now has 175 Race Wins (120 - 70 WINS) & (124 - 105 WINS) . Fastest lap records in all classes if we counted them, but we don't so that doesn't count. If he can finish the race at a good pace and not crash this could be the new champion of champions. Forget about Gulf Oil, this man is responsible for bringing Tea Tree Oil back to motor racing. Favorite car Ford GT40. Ranking - C.

#5 - 2011 (2T) STUART "Fangio" Team Paddington - Turned up a win on his first night. Then takes the title. (2 Titles) so far and he has 22 Race Wins  (132 - 16 WIN) & (124 - 6 WIN) . Totally old school racer. Proudly welcomed in our club. Always there in a car that seems to get wider every race. Favorite Car anything in 1/24 Ranking - D.

#6 - 2011 (1T) JOHN "Schumacher"  Garageasters Team - Turned up a win on his first night. Maybe we'll have a new champion again for 2011. Just won his first title, 29 Race Wins  (132 - 10 WINS) & (124 - 19 WINS) . Totally old school racer. Proudly welcome in our club. Always there in a car that seems to get wider every race. Favorite Car GT40 Ranking - E.

=#7 - 2011 (0T)  JASON "Riccardo" - No titles, No Wins  (132 - 0 WINS) & (124 - 0 WINS) .

 

(#RET) MATT Team Zandvoort Race Engineering - The first champion to retire with an amazing record of (17 Titles) and one of the quickest driver we have had at the club. With 182 race wins (132 - 97 WINS) plus (124 - 85 WINS) in completed championships.

(#RET) ALEX Team Grrr Racing (Black Arts Group) - The "Mechanic" has retired with a good record of (6 Titles) made up from 64 Race Wins. (132 - 41 WINS) & (124 - 23 WINS) in completed championships.

124 Hotrods - Our club car is the Carrera 1934 Ford Coupe painted in your own team colours. These are the quickest cars in 124 on the track with both the race and lap records. Champion - ANTHONY / MATT / GLENN / MATT / ANTHONY / MATT / ANTHONY / MATT / ANTHONY.

124 LMPT Le Mans (Modern) - Only two types of cars the Audi R8/R10 & Porsche RS Spyder. These slide all over the track. To win the race you must keep these cars straight. NEW for 2010. Champion - TOM / TOM / TOM / MATT / TOM / TOM / ALEX / ALEX.

124 Le Mans (Classic) - The best looking class in the club with a selection of the best classic racing cars; Ferrari 300P3/4, Porsche Carrera 906, Ford GT40, Corvette Grand Sport, Ferrari 250 SWB & LWB. The most favorite class of them all. The class with the most bragging rights. Win this class and you are the 'chosen one'. Champion - GLENN / ANTHONY / TOM / ANTHONY / ANTHONY / TOM / ANTHONY / TOM / GLENN.

124 GT1 (Modern) - Ferrari 575, Corvette C6R, Porsche GT & Aston Martin DBR9. The big bangers. This will be typical GT racing with the winner being the one who stays out of Armco. Champion - ANTHONY / GLENN / GLENN / GLENN / GLENN / GLENN / ALEX / MATT / RUSSELL / RUSSELL .

124 GT (Classic) - Ferrari 250GTO, Corvette Grand Sport & Cheetar. This will be typical classic GT racing with the winner being the one who handles the power. Champion - MATT / ANTHONY / ANTHONY / ANTHONY / RUSSELL / TOM / RUSSELL / ANTHONY / RUSSELL .

132 Cars for the championship, run down.

132 DTM - Audi A4 & Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The classic racing battle between the German "Uber" rivals. This racing should is classic DTM, with the same points system as the real thing. Champion - ANTHONY / ANTHONY / GLENN / ANTHONY / MATT / ANTHONY / ANTHONY.

132 LMPT Le Mans (Modern) - Audi R10, Porsche RS Spyder & Peugeot 908. Hold on as these cars fly. Keep the tyres clean and your lap times will be 1. 5s quicker than the pack. Champion - GLENN / MATT / MATT / MATT / MATT / ANTHONY / TOM.

132 Porsche 'Carrera Cup' GT3 - Porsche GT3 only for this class. The Carrera Cup in miniature. Always has a full field of cars. One of the hottest classes at the club. Champion - MATT / ANTHONY / GLENN / ANTHONY / ANTHONY / ANTHONY / ANTHONY / ANTHONY.

132 SUPER GT - Nissan GTR's, Audi R8's, BMW Z4/M3 & Ford Capris' and all the rest, making this an amazing championship. A full 8/12 races in race heats then a final race for deciding the winner. New for 2010. Champion - ANTHONY / ANTHONY / TOM / ANTHONY / MATT / ANTHONY / ALEX / RUSSELL.
